This was my first Kentucky Derby and I can't wait to go back next year! After watching the royal wedding and all the amazing hats, I learned that it's all about the hat at the Derby too! There's even a special "rain coat" to protect the hats from the inevitable rain showers. Makeup looks ranged from smokey eyes and red lips but most often it was clean and summery.
Rosie Napravnik, the only female jockey, finished 9th on Pants On Fire (#7)! That's a first in Derby history that a female finished in the top 10! The crowds were chanting her name!
Donna Barton Brothers, a former winning jockey and now the NBC horseback reporter, looked great and I was impressed at how she's able to interview jockeys so well while riding alongside them!
Now I have a year to find the perfect and fab hat!
